The Pledge
Between 2005 and 2009, Manchester is my Planet promoted a major Climate Change Pledge Campaign to engage the citizens of Greater Manchester in efforts to achieve climate stabilisation.
By then end of the campaign 21,309 local residents had taken the pledge, making it the largest city-regional climate change pledge campaign in the UK. It is estimated that over 46,500 tonnes of CO2 have been saved annually by residents taking action on their pledge commitments.
Sir Richard Leese, Chair of M:KC Board, presents Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, with the call to action from over 21,000 pledgers on the eve of the Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change, December 2009.
The Climate Change Pledge 2005-09
"I pledge to play my part in reducing Greater Manchester's greenhouse gas emissions by 20 per cent before 2010, to help the UK meet its international commitment on climate change."

Sign up to the 10:10 Campaign
Why not sign up to the 10:10 Campaign? Everyone's at it! It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of a huge problem like climate change, but by uniting everyone around immediate, effective and achievable action, 10:10 enables us all to make a meaningful difference.
The plan is simple: we work together to cut our carbon emissions by 10% in 2010. 10:10 is an idea whose time has come.
Further Information on the Pledge

Pledge Campaign Evaluation
In late 2008 3,000 carefully-sampled people were invited to take part in anevaluation to examine the impact of the pledge campaign on their behaviour. A summary of the results are given below. The evaluation was a success with the responses rate exceeding our 10% target.
In 2008 Manchester is my Planet assisted DEFRA produce a national guide to designing and operating climate change pledge schemes.
