Sustainable Energy Action Planning

What is Sustainable Energy Action Planning?

Sustainable Energy Action Planning is a process for developing the coherent, evidence-based and prioritised action plans needed for a more resilient energy system, better able to meet and manage the demand for heating, electricity and transport with fewer emissions and reduced environmental impact.

It is a process widely practiced throughout Europe and is promoted by the European Commission's Covenant of Mayors initiative.

In the UK, the Commission for Architecture and Built Environment (CABE) supports this approach through the Sustainable Cities initiative.

The Energy Saving Trust supports local authorities in developing plans to tackle carbon emissions through their Local Authority 1:1 Support Programme.

Our Work

Manchester is my Planet is creating a framework Sustainable Energy Action Plan for Greater Manchester. This will inform and shape energy priorities at city-regional level.

Part of the SEAP development process involved a wide range of partners in visioning future energy scenarios using Carbon Captured's GRIP Scenario Tool.

All our SEAP development work has been made possible through our participation in the trans-national PEPESEC.

In addition Manchester: Knowledge Capital has contributed to the establishment of a new Energy Group that is working to advance low-carbon actions at city-regional level.
